Bellows Beach

On Tuesday, Chris, Zeraline, Zeahne, and myself went to a beach on an airforce base that has public and private beaches. the private beach being for airforce people. the public beach was closed due to the marines using it for practice stuff. the private beach is a great beach to go boogie boarding on. Zeraline opted to bask in the shade due to the waves being a little much for 28 weeks of pregnancy (7 months pregnant). Zeahne is a little boogie boarding fanatic. Chris and myself promptly hit the waves. I have to admit, i have never boogie boarded before...but it was way fun! I got a couple of good rides.

Before we went into the water we saw this gentlemen with his daughter pointing at something and picking it up with a stick and barring it deep in the sand. Chris went up to him and asked him what it was and he said a man-of-war. They are not poisonous but the sting really hurts. So, Chris came in closer to shore to play with Zeahne for a while and while he was sitting in the sand next to the waves he felt something on his left knee. He looked down and it looked like a fishing hook going into his knee, so he pulled it out and threw it away from him. But the pain did not go away. He said it felt like a needle was being stuck in his knee over and over. So he went to the lifeguard station that was 20 feet away and the lifeguard sprayed vinegar on his knee and then told him to take a hot shower. If you have ever seen the friends episode where monica, chandler, and joey go through a similar situation you know what happened next. Chris took it upon himself to try "it" and who knows...but between the vinagar, hot shower, and "it" something worked. If you don't know what "it" is, ask someone...they probably know:) just for you curious ones, this is what the man of war looks like. it is really small and see through - jelly fish like.
