Pearl City Charger's Football

Zeahne and Zeraline have never been to an American football game. Football being one of my favorite sports to watch, I couldn't wait to take them to a game. I had been looking on the internet for a couple of weeks. This time of year is homecoming and i thought that a homecoming football game would be fun to go to because of the floats, dresses, largeness of the crowd, and wanting to win. So I saw that Pearl City was having their homecoming last night, i looked at their record and they were 5/2. So i figured that would be a good game to take them to.

It was a lot of fun. Zeahne thought at first that the football players were trying to kill each other. Zeraline looked at me and asked why there weren't any rules because everyone kept hitting each other and knocking them down. I told her there were a lot of rules and they were actually playing by them. When they broke a rule that is when a ref would through a yellow flag. We were actually sitting next to the band and right after their fight song they would always play the star wars theme song and zeahne loved that. The cheerleaders were right in front of us and were doing throws, so that was exciting to see. It was the best first game to have gone to! We left after half time because even though he had stayed in the relatively same position for the last three hours, zeahne was getting a little antsy and it was a large crowd and we couldn't just let him go and play somewhere.

Some things that are different than Ohio football. They have cheerleaders and Hula Dancers. the football players from each school SING their fight song to the other team. From Hawaiian tradition, the football players, do chants, grunts, screams, foot stomping, thigh slapping, and chest popping that makes you wonder if hidden in their jerseys are spears and they are going out on the field to defend there tribe. it was actually very interesting and made you think they could have been doing something very similar to this 1000 years ago.
